CHICAGO, Ill., (June 1, 2012) – Stonecutter Records, a Chicago, Ill.-based music production company and independent record label, announced the launch of Stonecutter Studios, a new recording facility that provides world class services in music recording, mixing, mastering, production and marketing. In addition to offering all the traditional services expected from a professional recording studio, Stonecutter is aiming to create music-generated online relationships between performers and fans.

Stonecutter President, Producer and Chief Engineer, Chris Steinmetz, explains, “I want this studio to work as a vehicle for all artists who want to cut through the noise and reach higher ground.” Using an application that works for young performers and veterans alike, Stonecutter Studios is bringing a fresh concept to the world of music recording by providing not only production, but marketing and media services as well. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to sit in on the recording session of one of your favorite bands? Well, Musicfan.tv will enable both artists and fans to share relationships online through HD camera video services, allowing for fans to be a part of the recording process by feeling like they are in the studio with the band. The studio provides audio / video services and marketing for bands online by giving fans access into the recording sessions through the streaming videos. “The whole idea for this concept is for it to be participatory between bands, fans, and even other areas of the music industry,” adds Steinmetz.

Steinmetz’s experience as a producer and recording engineer is legendary. As an engineer in Los Angeles, he has worked with Paul Simon (Graceland), John Denver, David Lee Roth and Producer Michael Wagener, for whom he engineered many classic 80s hard rock albums. During his time in LA, Steinmetz also did freelance work for many other bands such as Kiss (with Producer Bob Ezrin), Suicidal Tendencies, and Alice in Chains – as well as many feature films.

After returning to Chicago, Steinmetz served as Chief Engineer at Chicago Trax and then later as Senior Music Producer / Engineer at the Chicago Recording Company (CRC). There, Steinmetz’s clients represented some the top names in hard rock and hip-hop. He received credits on albums by Kanye West, Disturbed, Rihanna, Twista, Lil Jon, Usher, E-dub, and Jin, with all going platinum or gold. During this time, Steinmetz also helped to pioneer the field of music mixing in 5.1 Surround Sound.

Stonecutter Records was created in 2006. It was born out of the desire to “advance artists to the next level in their careers and get them the exposure they deserve.” The label’s first project, Acoustic Chicago, is a compilation of 13 Chicago artists and features their music in an acoustic format to highlight songwriting ability.

Steinmetz is excited to move into a new realm and expand his expertise to a bevy of new local and international clients. “Now we have opened an amazing sounding new studio, and we also offer world class mixing and mastering services to a global market through our website.”

Not only does Stonecutter Recording Studios boast having such an accomplished producer and engineer leading the team, it also provides access to some of the most sought after musical instruments, amplifiers and recording equipment. “I haven’t heard a room sound this good since I was at Abbey Road,” said Steinmetz.

With the scenic backdrop of the Chicago skyline and lakefront as inspiration, Stonecutter Recording Studios promises a good time along with all of the professionalism and experience expected in the creation of great sounding music.

Opened in April of 2012, Stonecutter Recording Studios is excited to continue its mission of capturing exceptional performances for artists at any level to share with an ever-expanding world community.
